ABOUT

Rachel Lau is an undergraduate BioEngineering student focusing on Biomechanics and pursing a minor in mechanical engineering. Her research at Pitt's Soft Tissue Biomechanics Lab under Dr. Jonathan Vande Geest involved utilizing non-traditional cell culture methods to investigate the dynamics of cells that are affected by glaucoma. She has completed four rotations at Philips Respironics as a mechanical engineering co-op in their Advanced Research and Core Development group.​ Her future plans are to go into the medical product industry and eventually pursue a graduate degree in mechanical or bio engineering.
